X2 Mathematical Methods Home Page

These pages are primarily for the complex analysis and Fourier series part of the course. A revision sheet for vectors produced by Prof. Steve Tobias of the Department of Applied Mathematics at Leeds University provides a summary of the basic vector stuff you need to know (and some extras).

The following coursework sheets were handed out in 2007-08:

You can get a copy of the 2005 exam paper here and the 2005 solutions (which may have one or two errors). Others are available from the usual source. And yes I know the 2003 and 2004 papers are very similar ....

I do not have copies of the 2006 paper. There was an industrial dispute, and I did not set the paper. The solutions to my half of the 2007 exam are here, and the 2008 paper here.

Complex variable

The following handouts have been, or will be, given out for for the complex variable part of the course: The following PDF presentation was used with Handout 2 in lectures. For the full effect save the file to your hard disc then load it into Acrobat Reader. To go between pages use return, page down, ... . To get out of full screen mode hit escape. Be very careful printing this document as you will get far more pages than you realy want! The following exercise sheets and answer sheets were prepared for the Complex Analysis part of the X2 Mathematical Methods course in 1994. The syllabus has changed since then, but many of the topics covered are the same. There is less emphasis on theory now. You should be able to attempt most of the questions. If a question has not been covered in any way in lectures then just ignore it!
