Management of Culture and the Heritage in the UK

The Department's introduction to the complex and divided structure of the UK cultural sector. Note: This now includes very many World Wide Web links to the cultural and heritage organisations listed under the relevant " supporting" ministry or other category listed

• Department for Culture, Media and Sport
  The Arts, libraries, museums, heritage,  film, broadcasting, press, music industry, sport and tourism, the National Lottery,and the cultural etc. organisations the Department "sponsors" or regulates. (Essentially an "English" ministry, except for National Lottery, broadcasting and the press - see "Territorial" ministries below for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for arts, libraries, museums, heritage, sport and tourism etc. in those countries of the United Kingdom)
  
  
• Other National (UK-wide) Ministries with cultural sector responsibilities (including the Department for Children, Schools and Families, Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, Department of Communities and Local Government, Ministry of Defence, Cabinet Office, Ministry of Justice etc.) and the cultural etc. organisations they "sponsor" or regulate
